fell awake

the second single from my ep, sounds (live), “fell awake” emerged to help me process / cope with the challenges of growing increasingly aware of deep pain, injustice, and violence suffered by millions of folks the world over.

racial reckonings, genocides, famine, war-torn realities and so much more tragedy is an ever-present feature of our awareness—if we’re blessed enough not to suffer directly at the hands of these crises.

started to pray / these keys i play / hope they say what i mean

in the verses of this song, i contemplate my role and responsibility to help shape change—change that loves harder, speaks louder, and demands justice. my hope for this tune is that it continues to remind me and us to do that work.
